My daughter is 5 years old and she weighs 89lbs. I am very concerned that she has a bad obesity problem. I would like to know what kind of specialist that I would need to take her to. I do not want her to go thru life being obese.I have tried cutting back on her food. It seems she can never get full. What can I do? |

Before answering your question, we would need to know your daughter's height in order to determine if she is indeed overweight. Then we would suggest using our Body Mass Index to determine if she is at risk for becoming obese as an adult by plotting the results on the new growth charts.
If the results confirm your impressions, then the place to start is your daughter's pediatrician. From there, referrals could be made to either a pediatric endocrinologist or a pediatric nutrition/dietitian expert.
