In an effort to prevent firearm-related injuries and death in children and adolescents, The
American Academy of Pediatrics has re-issued a policy statement that supports a ban on
handguns and semiautomatic assault weapons and the regulation of the manufacture, sale,
purchase, ownership, and use of firearms. Do you agree with the Academy? What would
you do to reduce child and adolescent access to guns?
